APS provides both Respite and Community Living Support (CLS) services for consumers in the local CMH system.

Respite Care:

Respite care provides a temporary relief for the primary caregiver, allowing you to take a much-needed break from the demands of caregiving. Respite can take place in your own home, at the staff’s home or in the community. By easing the burden of family caregiving, you can prevent exhaustion and burnout. Allowing you to have relieve stress and promote balance in your life.


Respite services give you time to leave the home for a few hours, days, or even a weekend knowing the one you care for is in good hands.

Community Living Support (CLS):

“Community Living Supports are used to increase or maintain personal self-sufficiency, facilitating an individual’s achievement of his goals of community inclusion and participation, independence or productivity. The supports may be provided in the participant’s residence or in community settings (including, but not limited to, libraries, city pools, camps, etc.).” Section 17.3.B of the Medicaid Manual (7/1/10)
